What is an aggie?

An Aggie is a student, former student, or faculty member of Texas A&M University. The term "Aggie" comes from the university's original emphasis on agricultural education, reflecting its history as an agricultural and mechanical college.

Aggies are known for their strong sense of tradition, camaraderie, and school spirit. Some of the most notable traditions include Aggie Muster (a worldwide annual gathering), the 12th Man (students standing throughout athletic games), and the Corps of Cadets (a student military organization). The Fightin' Texas Aggie Band is also a very important tradition.

Academically, Texas A&M is a comprehensive research university with strong programs in engineering, agriculture, business, and science.
